The excitement for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 is at an all-time high, especially for the India vs Pakistan match. However, fans are facing major disappointment as tickets, originally priced at Dh500, are now being resold for up to Dh3,500 on platforms like Facebook Marketplace and other classified websites.
Tickets Sold Out in an Hour
On Monday, thousands of cricket enthusiasts waited in online queues for hours to secure their tickets. Unfortunately, within just one hour, all tickets were sold out, leaving many fans empty-handed. Now, these same tickets are being resold at sky-high prices.
Abdul Kareem, a passionate cricket fan from Sharjah, shared his frustration.
“I kept refreshing the page for hours, hoping to buy a ticket. But by time my turn came, they all were gone. Resellers are now demanding Dh3,500 or even higher. It’s extremely frustrating,” he said.
He even tried to negotiate with a reseller, offering Dh200 more than the original price, but was met with anger. “The seller told me I didn’t understand the value of this match,” Kareem added.
Fans Unable to Afford High Prices
Another fan, Harish Das, also expressed disappointment at the inflated prices.
I budgeted Dh500 for a ticket, but paying anything over Dh1,000 is beyond my reach. It feels like these matches are only for those who can afford such high prices,” he said.
He also pointed out that ticket prices in Dubai are much higher compared to India. “My last option is to watch the match on TV,” Das added.
Resellers Receiving High Demand
With India vs Pakistan being one of the biggest rivalries in cricket, demand for tickets has skyrocketed. Some resellers claim they are getting dozens of calls every day from desperate buyers.
“We’ve had more than 50 inquiries since yesterday from people looking for tickets. Many are trying to bargain, but even at three times the price, they are still interested,” said a reseller.
One reseller, holding tickets for all four matches in the UAE, is offering them in bulk for Dh6,000. According to him, fans are also looking for tickets to matches like India vs Bangladesh, India vs New Zealand, and the semifinals.
“Many fans want to attend multiple matches, not just India-Pakistan. Buying tickets in bulk is cheaper than individual resale rates, yet people are still negotiating,” he said.
Will Prices Go Even Higher?
The India vs Pakistan clash is set to take place at Dubai International Stadium on February 23, 2025. With demand only increasing, ticket prices may rise even further as the match date approaches.
For fans who missed out on official ticket sales, watching the match live on TV might be their only option. However, the excitement and passion for this historic cricket rivalry remain as strong as ever.
