In a groundbreaking effort to empower Pakistan’s youth with cutting-edge digital skills, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT), in partnership with Huawei Technologies, has launched the ICT Training Portal. This initiative marks a pivotal step in bridging the gap between traditional education and the rapidly evolving IT industry.

Free Access to Advanced IT Courses

The ICT Training Portal offers free online training modules, providing equal opportunities for men and women nationwide. Courses focus on advanced topics like artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data analytics, preparing young Pakistanis to thrive in the global digital economy.

State Minister for IT, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, emphasized that this platform will cultivate a digitally skilled workforce, critical for the nation’s progress in the technology sector. The portal aligns with Pakistan’s vision of fostering a knowledge-driven economy.

Practical Experience and Internships

Over the next three years, the program will connect graduates with IT companies for internships, ensuring practical exposure and hands-on learning. By doing so, it aims to equip students with real-world skills to tackle modern challenges in IT and telecommunications.

National IT Skills Committee and Collaboration

To further enhance IT skill development, the government has formed the National IT Skills Committee, comprising representatives from provincial IT ministries and boards. This committee will provide strategic direction for digital literacy initiatives across the country.

Shaza Fatima praised Huawei’s collaboration, highlighting its contributions to projects like the Safe City initiative and potential partnerships for the Smart Islamabad project. She noted that such collaborations are instrumental in building a robust digital ecosystem in Pakistan.

Huawei’s Role in ICT Development

Huawei Technologies has played a vital role in fostering innovation and technical education in Pakistan. The company recently signed an MoU with COMSATS University to enhance technical and vocational training. Starting at COMSATS Lahore campus, this initiative will provide students with access to advanced ICT tools and training, with plans for expansion to other regions.

Deputy CEO of Huawei Pakistan, Ahmed Bilal Masud, reiterated the company’s commitment to investing in youth. He emphasized that a skilled workforce is the backbone of Pakistan’s economic and technological growth, with Huawei leveraging its global expertise to contribute significantly.

A Vision for a Digital Pakistan

The ICT Training Portal is not just a platform but a cornerstone of Pakistan’s broader strategy to prepare its youth for opportunities in the global digital landscape. With initiatives like these, the Ministry of IT and Huawei are setting the stage for a technology-driven future where innovation and skill development are at the forefront.

This partnership underscores the importance of public-private collaboration in building a sustainable framework for digital learning, ensuring Pakistan’s youth are ready to lead in a rapidly advancing world.
